I’m running the Hackney Half marathon for INQUEST. I worked with them when directing the play Accidental Death of an Anarchist - a satire about Met Police scummery and, more specifically, death in police custody - where they provided invaluable research and encouragement throughout the process - giving us crucial insight into the realities of state-related death. I came to understand just how important their work is. They are the only organisation who supports families whose loved one has died following contact with the police, whilst in prison or while in the care of mental health services. Over the past few years, despite being a small team, they have faced even greater demand for their services - both their work with families and in influencing the wider media and policy landscape. They have helped bring about huge changes for these bereaved families but need your help to continue doing so. For 40 years, INQUEST has stood with bereaved people with a simple mission: putting an end to state related deaths and the unjust social systems which enable them. Now they need your help to continue this vital work.
